Israel Camerata Jerusalem | Conductor: Avner Biron

Commissioned by the Schleswig-Holstein Festival for the Israel Camerata, Jerusalem.

The title of the piece hints at its character: free flowing form, devoid of predetermined structure. The Fantasy develops in an associative manner, almost improvisatory; motoric passages are side by side with lyrical expressive ones. They intertwine the one with other and at times penetrate into one another. The musical elements are drawn from the Biblical cantillations of the Moroccan Jewish community of Casablanca. The atmosphere of the synagogue finds expression in the prater of the individual opposite the congregation and in the characteristic heterophonic murmur that precedes the prayer. The prayer is reflected in my arrangement and in the manner in which I chose to orchestrate the piece.
