Chen Zimbalista - percussion

The piece is taken from music written to the dance "Eggs" choreographed by Mimi Ratz-Wiesenberg. It is written for a wide range of pitched and unpitched percussion instruments .

The piece develops very gradually, from a bit mysterious abd unmetered introduction, evolves and crystalizes a repeated rhythmic pattern, that grows and becomes more dense and loud until the performer becomes a one-man band playing simultaneously different parts with both his hands and both his feet.

At the climax, the piece opens up to a free improvisation that leads eventually to the last section of the piece. This ending expresses a kind of purification and transfiguration after the passionate outburst that precedes it.
